Irving golf club, located in Irving, Texas is a fun little Colligan golf design. The layout is interesting to say the least. The course was built on a relatively flat piece of land but they’ve done a great job designing it so that the holes are not right on top of each other.

It’s a relatively short course - it only plays 6,141 yards from the blue tees. The par threes are challenging but unique and the par fives are gettable with a good tee shot.

Tees were in decent shape. Fairways were lush. Greens were excellent. They were rolling about 9.3 on the stimp and they were FIRM. Made chipping, especially from the rough, very difficult . Bunkers were also in really good shape.

For $32 on a Thursday afternoon it was well worth it.

The practice facilities here are phenomenal. Grass range, two large putting greens, and a chipping area.

Only negative thing about Irving is their antiquated dress code. They won’t even allow you to hit golf balls on the range if you have gym shorts or a shirt without a collar. Not a good way to grow the game, especially for a public municipal course…
