Butler Pitch & Putt
Austin - TX

Around $15 - Weekend
Walkability score - 10 - Built to walk

One of the most special places for golf in Texas. Nothing less than relaxed vibes, good greens and a love for the game of golf. Austin local Ben Crenshaw also consulted on the redesign of the green complexes which is awesome.

The Texas Hackers Club was in Austin this weekend reviewing some of the local courses and we had to stop in at Butler Pitch and Putt.

Butler opened in 1949 and has been a staple in the Austin community for 72 years. It’s located right outside of downtown across the Colorado river with some beautiful views of the ever expanding Austin city skyline.

Butler is a 9-hole par 3 course with the longest hole clocking in at 101 yards. Grab your wedge, putter, an ice cold beer, put your golf ball in the hopper to get in line, and hit some putts on the putting green.

Fun fact: Butler recently underwent renovations and they used Ben Crenshaws firm to design the new greens. The greens were small but they had a ton of undulations on them - some of the better green complexes we’ve seen.

There are no tee times and it cost us $13.50 on Sunday morning. There were golfers of all skills levels out enjoying a nice Sunday morning stroll.

If you’re ever in ATX you’d be doing yourself a disservice not checking it out. It’s truly an oasis and I’d love to see something like this in DFW...
