Laid back kind of place.
Nice range and practice green.
Bent grass putting surfaces are great but these were very soft and had tons of divots and marks.
Firewheel Golf Park has 63 holes spread-out over three courses. Building started in the 80's and the bridges course is the youngest of the bunch. Clubhouse is nice with a stone exterior and large bar/restaurant area great for after round drinks and snacks.
The layout is fine and reminds me a lot of Twin Creeks in Allen. Within the bridges are three different nines. The Masters, Champions, and Traditions. We played the first two since the traditions course is in the process of switching from bent grass to Bermuda .
The course plays at an average distance of around 6700 from the back tees. Fairways can play tight and many bunkers are definitely in play. Known for their bent grass greens we were were left unsatisfied with the putting surfaces. We did play late in the day so we have to be forgiving but the greens were extremely soft and beat up. You can see literally every ball mark from the entire day on the greens as well as shoe marks. 10 yard chip shots were leaving divots which you don't see every day. This was very disappointing because we can see amazing surface under all the imperfections. Perhaps they would be in better condition if we had played in the morning.
We couldn't finish 18 teeing off at 3:30 with the pace of play being so slow. I really enjoyed the masters nine a lot more than the traditions. We play a ton of golf and the traditions course was just basic in our opinion. The masters seemed more fun with a bit more undulation that the holes just set up and play better.
If you live near the course definitely go check it out and let us know how the other two courses are playing.
